Making the World a Better Place

In class 4 four people were chosen to enter a competition: Joya, Amelia, Jonathan and Calum. This was sponsered by "apple" the topic was based around "Making the world a better place". We Blakedown were also chosen to host the competition. What we had to do was make a video. We were lent 1 apple mac and some iBooks from apple. We had three other schools come to us: Bayton, Wolverly and Upper Arley. We planned our video really well and were ahead of the other schools. We decided to call our video "Small act Big impact". We acted our scenes well too. What we had to face now was the editing stage this was crucial and we didn't do very well. We were given another half day to finish it and finally we got our heads down and got on with it. Then we were invited to the Digital awards ceromony. We put together a presentation and showed our video and everybody thought it was really good.

Think Quest Homework

Last week Class 4 started a piece of homework that they actually wanted to do!

Their task was to design a website - Mr Marshall would then choose the 6 best designs. The winning designers would then form the Blakedown Think Quest Team. They would then have to build a website and enter it into the Think Quest Competition.

Think Quest is an international Web Site Design competition for children from ages 9 - 19. The top prizes involve an all expenses paid trip to the Think Quest show in SAN FRANSISCO, USA!

Mr Marshall said he'll put the winning homework designs on the blog.

Our Vital Statistics!

We've been keeping an eye on our web stats:

• Since June 2006 we've had 10286 visitors
• Since June 2007 we've had 7386 visitors
• Since October 2007 we've had 3782 unique visitors from 69 different countries
• Throughout 2007 we posted 106 items
• Between September and December we posted 72 items
• The most unique visitors we have had on one day is 116

5000th visitor to the Blog!

Over the last few months we've been monitoring our blog traffic. Since we started counting (unfortunately not from when we started blogging) we've had over 5000 hits or visits.

We use three utilities to monitor our traffic: Sitemeter, ClusterMaps & Google Analytics.

Sitemeter: This is our counter - it makes it easy to see how many visits we get

ClustrMaps: This shows us in a picture where each visitor comes from.

Google Analytics: This gives us lots of details on how people found our site.

According to Google in the last month we've had 1268 visits from 38 different countries.
