News Flash! New School Link with The Gambia, Africa!

News just in...

We've teamed up with one of our Pyramid schools (Hagley Primary) to create some links with a school in Africa.

The school is in a place called: San Kuley Kunda, which is in the Central River area in The Gambia, Africa.

We're going to work on a plant growing project together.

Here's what they're up to:

Blakedown Awarded Eco-Green Flag!

After a lot of effort and hard work from pupils and staff, Blakedown has been awarded it's first Green Flag!

Well done to everyone involved! This is something that we've been working towards for a while and achieving this award has made that hard work worthwhile.

Has anyone got a flag pole that we can use?

Litter to Glitter

Congratulations Blakedown! Because so many children brought in such wonderful decorations made from recycled materials to create a beautiful Christmas tree the judges awarded the school first prize in a competition which was open to all the schools in the Wyre Forest. The children were particularly impressed with the fact that the children had made the decorations at home. Let's make this a Blakedown School tradition!

Meet and Greet

On Thursday lots of children met at the pub car park and then walked along to school accompanied by a police officer, the community officer, parents and some of the staff. There were some hazzards along the way. The pavement was slippery, the traffic was heavy, and at one point there were cars parked on the pavement, but everyone arrived safely and met the others in the playground.

Then eveyone formed a circle around the edge of the playground before heading off into school. What did you think about the 'walk and greet' idea?
Should we do it again?

Let the Eco Warriors know what you think.

The Eco Warriors!

Our school's eco committee is trying to get the green flag! On the last week of this term we are having a inspection. Someone is going to judge whether our school is going to get the award or not. We have been trying really hard to get the green flag by, composting, saving water and picking up litter. Our school has recently entered a competition to make the best eco tree with recycled materials like newspaper and milk bottles. We all hope that we are going to get are greenflag we have been working very hard towards it.
