What a different day! I could get used to coming into school and not having a class to teach - I was able to do so much extra work. Maybe we should have strikes more often...
See why we closed here.

International Links
If you look on the right handside of our blog you'll find some links called "Blogs of Note" - I might change that later. Anyway, I've managed to find some other children who blog in different parts of the world. So far we've made contact with two schools - one of them is in Saindaig, Scotland and the other one is in Georgia, USA.
I'm really looking forward to reading their blogs and finding out what life is like in other parts of the world.

Hagley Pyramid Arts Festival 2006
On Friday 3rd March year 6 went to Haybridge with other pupils from the Hagley pyramid of schools.
In total 180 pupils participated in 3 workshops ranging from drumming, art, dance, drama, Weapons of Sound(junk instruments) and singing.
All groups worked hard and the event culminated in a concert performed with great enthusiasm. A range of animal masks and an African themed batik were produced.
- Bema led the Zulu dance and chanting in Bantu.
- Weapons of Sound(Rather like Stomp) loudly made music from all sorts of plastic junk (a little loud for myself and Mrs Sullivan!)
- Mike and Yvonne involved everyone in "Boomwhacker" drumming and African singing.
- Mr Estelle and his staff led us all in tradtional African singing and chanting.
We all had a throughly enjoyable day and look forward to next time

Can you dig it?

Those of you that have been around for a bit know the work that has gone into planning our grounds - we're currently looking at doing some more work. In the next few months we're going to need your help and the help of your parents to do some labouring!! Be prepared to bring your spade, gloves and a willingness to get dirty.
Check out the pictures from our work last year - click here - and then go to the Green Projects section. If you scroll down we're near the bottom.
Jam - not the one with Paul Weller in
The BBC have launched a new website (JAM). It's aimed at all children, no matter what ages - it goes from foundation age right up until year 11. Its aim is to provide an online learning environment for children to reinforce/extend what happens at school. I've had a quick look at things and it seems really good. There are a lot of areas that are still "underdevelopment" and I think it may take some time for them to work out all of the problems. Let me know if you get anywhere with it and if you think it is any good.
There's an article about it here.

Blogging hits the headlines!
Have a read of this article about how other schools are using blogs - can we use any of these ideas for our blog??
Have a think and get back to us.
